Meet Coach Lugo

Coach Lugo has over 45 years of experience in wrestling and martial arts. He has shown enthusiasm for these sports since he was only 5 years old. At Cobleskill State College, Coach Lugo holds the record for the most tournament wins in the school’s history. There, he also earned degrees in biology, business administration, and physical therapy. Also a master in Taekwondo, he holds black belts in jujitsu, hapkido, and aikido. His expertise in martial arts led him to win the world championships in 1991. Coach Lugo believes in the integrity of his field.

Coach Lugo's Philosophy

“My philosophy is anyone can coach, but only those who examine everyone can coach well,” he says. When not coaching martial arts athletes, Coach Lugo keeps himself busy by raising his three sons. His sons have followed in Lugo’s footsteps by wresting at the highest levels in high school. They have achieved both all county and all state status. Coach Lugo’s sons have also followed their father’s sense of integrity. “They are good men who all care about making the sport that they love better”, Lugo says.
